1 Installer
  • Apprentice
  • Beginner Level
  • 0-1 year with little to no network cable installation or telecommunications installation experience.
  • High School-level math, reading, and writing skills are required

2 Installer
  • Intermediate Level
2-5 years of network cable & telecommunications installation experience, including: cable-support systems, workstation outlets, horizontal station cables, backbone cables, data rooms, racks & cabinets, patch panels, testing & certification, firestopping.
  • Working knowledge of the ANSI, TIA, EIA & BICSI cabling standards and the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Working knowledge of telecom and data networks
  • Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints
  • Successfully terminate various types of copper and fiber connectors

3 Installer
  • Journeyman
  • Expert Level
5+ years of network cable & telecommunications installation experience, including conducting job-site surveys; building telecommunications closets (including mounting racks, cross connect blocks, backboards, and grounding hardware); placing copper and fiber cables (backbone and horizontal); terminating twisted-pair, coaxial, and fiber-optic cables; testing twisted-pair and fiber-optic cables; troubleshooting copper- and fiber-cabling systems; splicing copper and fiber cable; performing cutovers (retrofit or upgrade) of cabling systems.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Advanced troubleshooting for both copper and optical fiber installations
  • Ability to choose the correct tool or methodology for specific tasks
  • Working knowledge of the standards of wired and wireless networks

4 Lead Installer & Job Foreman
  • Journeyman
  • Expert Level
5+ years working as Expert Level Technician ready to lead a team or act as a foreman.
  • Lead installation teams using project management skills
  • Design and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Design and interpret the job plan and the Scope of Work
  • Participate in bidding new and retrofit projects
  • Understand and enforce safety and professionalism with team members
